Month of Mail - January 2021

Starting off the new year with a smaller month of hockey ink in the mail. 3 new NHL player signatures brings the grand total to approximately 6,800 for 88% of everyone to ever play in the NHL.

                        Jack Hamilton (d. 1994)
From 1942 to 1946 Jack Hamilton played just over 100 games in the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He scored 28 goals and 60 points in the NHL with the Leafs.

                    George Armstrong (d. 2021)
George Armstrong was captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1958 to 1969. He won the Stanley Cup 4 times with Toronto and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975. It was only a coincidence that this came in around the same time he passed away as I had purchased it before his death.

                         John Quilty (d. 1969)
John Quilty is most notable for winning the Calder Trophy as NHL's rookie of the year in 1940/41. He scored 18 goals and 34 points in 48 games that season with Montreal. During the 1940s Quilty scored 36 goals and 70 points in 125 career NHL games between the Habs and Boston Bruins.

                              Dave Elenbaas
Dave Elenbaas is one of the most interesting autographs in my NHL Backups only collection. He dressed in at least 29 NHL games as a backup goalie for the Montreal Canadiens. Because he sat behind one of the all-time greats in Ken Dryden, he never got a single minute of NHL action so isn't in the record books.
