Ending 2024 with 8 new NHL autographs. The total number of unique NHL player signatures in my collection now stands at 7,631 for 94% of everyone to ever play in the league.
Andy Aitkenhead (d. 1968)
From 1932 to 1935 Andy Aitkenhead played over 100 games in the NHL with the New York Rangers. He's most notable for backstopping the Rangers to the Stanley Cup in 1933.
Gilles Bilodeau (d. 2008)
Gilles "Bad News" Bilodeau was one of the most feared fighters of the WHA. He played for the WHA's Toronto Toros, Birmingham Bulls and Quebec Nordiques and accumulated over 500 penalty minutes. He played 9 games in the NHL with the 1979-80 Nordiques, registering 1 point and 25 penalty minutes.
Barry Legge
From 1974 to 1979 Barry Legge played 345 regular season games in the WHA. He then followed that up with over 100 games in the NHL between the Quebec Nordiques and Winnipeg Jets.
Gordon Haidy (d. 2004)
Gordon Haidy played 1 game in the NHL, a playoff game with the 1950 Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings won the Stanley Cup but it wasn't enough to get his name on the Trophy. That same season he had a much bigger impact with the Indianapolis Capitals, who won the 1950 Calder Cup.
Cully Dahlstrom (d. 1998)
From 1937 to 1945 Cully Dahlstrom played for the Chicago Blackhawks, scoring over 200 points. His rookie season was his most notable, winning the 1938 Calder Trophy and helping the Hawks win the 1938 Stanley Cup. He was inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973.
Cam York
A University of Michigan product, Cam York was drafted 14th overall in 2019 by Philadelphia. A defenceman, he's already played nearly 200 NHL games with the Flyers.
York and the next 2 autographs are some of last I needed for the 2020-21 season of debuts.
Alexis Lafreniere
A first overall pick of the Rangers in 2020, Lafreniere is in his fifth NHL season and is finally emerging as a star.
Trevor Zegras
The 9th overall pick of the 2019 NHL draft, Zegras looked to be an emerging star but has struggled to keep up his early scoring pace with the Ducks. He was on the cover of NHL EA Sports 23.
