Month of Mail - October 2021

A total of 8 new NHL player autographs added to the collection this past month. It has been quiet lately for new vintage autographs. A TTM return from Brian Stapleton, someone I'd long searched for, was the highlight of my month.

The grand total of unique NHL player autographs in the collection currently stands at 7,053 for 89% of everyone to ever play in the league.

                             Brian Stapleton
A Brown University alumni, Brian Stapleton played 1 game in the NHL with the 1975/76 Washington Capitals.
With Stapleton added, only 3 more signatures needed to complete the 1975/76 year of debuts.

                      Jacques Lemieux
From 1967 to 1970 defenseman Jacques Lemieux played 20 games (19 regular season and 1 playoff) with the Los Angeles Kings.

                                Radim Simek
Czech defenseman Radim Simek made his NHL debut with the 2018/19 San Jose Sharks. He represented his nation at the World Championships in 2016 and 2017.

                          Rasmus Dahlin
Rasmus Dahlin was drafted 1st overall at the 2018 NHL draft. He's already played over 200 NHL games. Since he doesn't sign for Upper Deck, and has never signed for any card company, he doesn't have a certified autograph card available yet. Disappointingly, Dahlin doesn't sign via TTM either.

                     Brogan Rafferty
Brogan Rafferty has played 3 games in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks. He's legally blind in one eye so even making it to the league is a big accomplishment.

                  Brandon Carlo
Defenseman Brandon Carlo has played over 300 games in the NHL with the Boston Bruins. Internationally, he represented US at the World Juniors in 2015 and 2016.

                            Joakim Ryan
A Cornell alumni, Joakim Ryan played 145 NHL games between the San Jose Sharks, LA Kings and Carolina Hurricanes.

                             Matt Grzelcyk
Matt Grzelcyk was born in Boston, went to Boston University and since 2017 has been a member of the Boston Bruins. He's played well over 200 games in the NHL.

On top of the 8 new NHL player autographs, as usual, I have some additional hockey autographs to share...

                  Bob Johnson (d. 1991)
Coach Badger Bob Johnson spent many years as the Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey coach. From 1982 to 1987 he was head coach of the NHL's Calgary Flames. He later coached the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Stanley Cup in 1991 but passed away just months later.
Johnson and the next couple autographs go into my collection of NHL coaches/managers signatures.

                Kelly McCrimmon
Kelly McCrimmon has been General Manager of the Vegas Golden Knights since 2019.  He was the long time coach and owner of the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings. His brother, Brad, was a former NHL player.

                   Cail MacLean
Cail MacLean spent many years playing professionally in the AHL and ECHL. He turned to coaching in 2009 and in 2021 finally made it to the NHL when he was named assistant coach of the Calgary Flames.

                       Bernard DeGrace
Bernard DeGrace worked over 350 NHL games as an NHL official. His brother, Yanick, was a former pro goalie in the Flyers system.

                     Peter Moffat
Peter Moffat spent time an an official in both the NHL and the WHA.
Moffat and DeGrace go into my collection of NHL officials autographs.

                   Hilary Knight
As a member of the US women's Olympic hockey team Hilary Knight won Gold at the 2018 Olympics and Silver in 2010 and 2014. This goes with my collection of women in hockey autographs.
