5 Trades = 76 Graph Haul

76 new autographs to show in this post. The grand total now stands at 4,477 or 61.5% of everyone who's ever played in the NHL. I now have my eyes set on 5,000, which would put me close to the 70% mark.

Taking the time to scan and post my traders on the blog has proven time well spent. I still, however, didn't put a dent in the traders box. It feels great to add so many autographs with only the cost of a few envelopes that I sent the traders in. Trading is a great part of this hobby and I hope to do some more. I've already got another couple incoming and another possible trade in the works.

Since these trades were with other TTM collectors, I've actually tried to send to many of these players or have outstanding recent requests to them. Its possible some of these cards may end up on my trade list in the future if some outstanding TTM requests come back.

While I don't have any certified autographs incoming at the moment, I should have a pile of TTM requests waiting for me when I visit home next week. I also sent out about 100 new requests this past month. I would have sent more if stamps weren't so expensive. Since I started writing to players a mere 10 years ago the price to write players has more than doubled. The service, however, has unexplainably declined. Again, I'll reiterate that I'm no fan of Canada Post.

Trade #3
Just three cards came my way in this trade and only two to show. The third was a redemption for an Anze Kopitar autograph. I'm hopeful it arrives this decade but apparently its in stock and will arrive within 12-16 weeks. I only have one other outstanding redemption and that one is with Panini. I had redeemed it 2011 and requested it be replaced three times since then. Its still outstanding. Maybe I'll have better luck with Kopitar and Upper Deck.
Thanks for the trade Rob!

Gabriel Landeskog
The Avalanche drafted Gabriel Landeskog with the 2nd overall pick of the 2011 NHL draft. Just a year later he made NHL history, becoming the league's youngest captain. He won a silver medal at the 2014 Olympics with Sweden. In a rare case with Upper Deck, this jersey is from an authentic NHL game and not photoshoot.

Alexander Khokhlachev
Russian forward Alexander Khokhlachev has played four NHL games with the Boston Bruins. They selected him 40th overall in the 2011 NHL draft.

Trade #4
The theme here is Stanley Cup winners as that's what the collector I traded with here collects. Thanks Fred!

Daryl Evans
I found it odd that Evans was on this recent Upper Deck Masterpieces base set checklist but didn't have an autograph in the set. Between 1981 and 1987 Evans played 113 regular season games in the NHL.

Wayne Merrick
Wayne Merrick spent a dozen seasons in the NHL. He's best remembered as a member of the New York Islanders Stanley Cup dynasty. He won the championship four times with the Islanders. In the 1981 playoffs Merrick scored 18 points in 18 games and also scored the Cup-clinching goal.

From 1979 to 1994 defenceman Mark Hardy played nearly 1000 games in the NHL. He was a long time member of the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers. Hardy spent 10 years in the NHL as an assistant coach after retiring as a player.

Troy Crowder
Between 1989 and 1997 tough guy Troy Crowder played 150 regular season games in the NHL. He recorded 9 goals, 16 points and 433 penalty minutes.

Rob Murphy
Between 1987 and 1994 Rob Murphy played 125 regular season games in the NHL. He was a Canuck, Senator and King.

Mike Rucinski
From 1997 to 2001 Mike Rucinski played 26 games in the NHL with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Chris O'Sullivan
Between 1996 and 2003 Chris O'Sullivan played 62 games in the NHL. The defenceman was a member of the Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

Radim Bicanek
Czech defenceman Radim Bicanek still plays pro hockey in his home country. Between 1994 and 2002 Bicanek played 129 regular season+playoff games in the NHL. He suited up for the Senators, Blackhawks and Blue Jackets.

Jason Garrison
I've been patiently waiting for Jason Garrison to get a long overdue certified autograph but that has yet to happen. The defenceman has played over 400 regular season+playoff games in the NHL since 2009. He recently helped the Tampa Bay Lightning reach the Stanley Cup finals.

Ebay
Just one small purchase from ebay. Picked this one up because Shaw doesn't have many certified autographs and I couldn't get a cheap one on COMC.com

Andrew Shaw
Andrew Shaw made his NHL debut with the 11/12 Blackhawks and quickly became a full time NHLer. He helped the Hawks capture the 2013 and 2015 Stanley Cups.

Cleaning

While organizing and scanning my extra autographs I did some cleaning and found a few autographs that I hadn't added to the collection. They come from what was left of a Hawks alumni game program and LA Kings official NHL game program.

Bill Gardner
From 1980 to 1980 Bill Gardner played over 400 regular season+playoff games in the NHL. He was a long time Chicago Blackhawks but also spent some time with the Hartford Whalers.

Reg Kerr
Between 1977 and 1984 Reg Kerr played 250+ games in the NHL. He was a member of the Cleveland Barons, Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers. He scored 30 goals and 60 points for the 1980/81 Blackhawks.

Mark LaVarre
From 1985 to 1988 Mark LaVarre played 78 NHL games for the Chicago Blackhawks. I think I hadn't cut this one up because I didn't identify the signature but its definitely LaVarre, who was on the program for this game.

Mike Allison
Between 1980 and 1990 Mike Allison played 499 regular season and 82 playoff games in the NHL. He played for the Rangers, Maple Leafs and Kings. I used a picture of Allison with the Kings because thats who he was playing for when he signed this.

Phil Sykes
I've tried writing to Sykes twice and held up making a custom with the cut in hopes one would come back. It either ever does then It will just be an upgrade. From 1982 to 1992 Phil Sykes played nearly 500 games in the NHL.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are really 80 autographs in this post. The last 4 are hockey autographs of people who never played in the NHL. Two for my coaches/GM collection, one for my WHA collection and one for my female players collection.

Pierre McGuire
As much as I hate listening to the guy, Pierre McGuire used to be an NHL head coach and I need his autograph for that sub collection. Pierre actually has his name on the Stanley Cup twice, as an assistant coach with the 1991 and 1992 Pittsburgh Penguins. He later served as head coach of the Hartford Whalers.

Jimmy Skinner
This was part of the trade with Fred. Jimmy Skinner, who passed away in 2007, spent time as both head coach and general manager of the Detroit Red Wings. Skinner coached the Red Wings to the 1955 Stanley Cup.

Bill Needham
Bill Needham was a long time pro hockey hockey who never made it to the NHL. He spent 15 seasons in the AHL and inked this autograph as a member of the Cleveland Barons. As I was going through the vintage minor league autographs I have that don't really fit into my collection, I realized I could move this one into my WHA binder. Needham spent two seasons as head coach of the WHA's Cleveland Crusaders.

Genevieve Lacasse
This is my fourth autograph from this set and I still need 10 more first time female signers from it. I've been patiently waiting for the cards to drop in price but they seem to be limited enough to keep the demand high. Genevieve Lacasse has been a member of Canada's national womens team since 2014. She won a Gold medal at the 2014 Olympics as a backup goalie to Shannon Szabados.
