Summer Mail featuring Carey Price

52 new autographs have been added to my collection since the last mail post.  The grand total now stands at 3,992.  


Carey Price
I acquired this Carey Price autograph for a great price at a local flea market here in Halifax.  Price is one of the most recognizable goalies in the NHL.  He's a multiple time NHL All-Star but most notable for leading Canada to an Olympic Gold medal in 2014.  For his performance at the tournament Price was named best goalie at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.  

Larry Robinson
Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1995, Larry Robinson is a living legend.  As a player Robinson won the Stanley Cup 6 times with the Canadiens and then claimed the trophy 3 more time as a coach with the New Jersey Devils.  On top of his 9 Cup rings Robinson claimed the James Norris Trophy twice as well as the 1978 Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.

Raymond Giroux
Between 1999 and 2004 Ray Giroux played 38 regular season and 4 playoff games in the NHL. He was a member of the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils.

Vladimir Zharkov
Between 2009 and 2012 Russian forward Vladimir Zharkov played 82 games with the New Jersey Devils.  He scored 2 goals and 14 points. 

Antti Pihlstrom
Between 2008 and 2009 left winger Antti Pihlstrom scored 2 goals and 7 points in 54 career NHL games with the Nashville Predators. He won a bronze medal at the 2014 Olympics with Team Finland. 

Petri Kontiola
Finnish forward Petri Kontiola played 12 NHL games with the 2007/2008 Chicago Blackhawks.  He has spent the last few years in the KHL but recently signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Alexei Semenov
Russian defenceman Alexei Semenov played over 200 games in the NHL between 2002 and 2009.  He spent time with the Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers and San Jose Sharks.

Janne Niskala
 Defenceman Janne Niskala played 6 games with the 2008/2009 Tampa Bay Lightning.  He contributed 1 goal and 3 points in his short NHL career.  He's also notable for winning an Olympic bronze medal with Team Finland in 2010. 

Riku Hahl
Between 2001 and 2004 Riku Hahl played 92 regular season and 34 playoff games with the Colorado Avalanche. 

Martti Jarventie
Martti Jarventie played 1 game in the NHL with the 2001/2002 Montreal Canadiens.

Tony Virta 
Finnish forward Tony Virta scored 2 goals and 5 points in 8 career NHL games with the 2001/2002 Minnesota Wild.

Jeff Zehr
This Bowman CHL Autograph is Jeff Zehr's only certified auto on the market and can be rather elusive. He played 4 NHL games with the 1999/2000 Boston Bruins. 

Mike Green
During the 2003/2004 NHL season Mike Green scored 1 goal and 4 points in 24 games. He dressed for both the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers. This ITG Heroes & Prospects autograph had eluded me for a long time. 

Mike Hartman
Tough guy Mike Hartman played 400+ games in the NHL between 1986 and 1995.  He's most notable for having his name engraved on the Stanley Cup as a member of the 1994 New York Rangers.

Taylor Fedun
A Princeton University alumni, undrafted defenceman Taylor Fedun scored 2 goals in 4 games with the 2013/2014 Edmonton Oilers.  He recently signed with the San Jose Sharks. 

Lucas Lessio
A second round pick by the Coyotes in 2011, Lucas Lessio played 3 NHL games with the 2013/14 Phoenix team. 

Ben Street
From 2013 to 2014 Ben Street played 19 games with the Calgary Flames. He recently signed with the Colorado Avalanche.

Mark Cundari
As a junior player Mark Cundari won the Memorial Cup in both 2009 and 2010 with the Windsor Spitfires. He was left undrafted but signed with the St. Louis Blues who later traded him to the Flames. With Calgary he has seen 8 games in the NHL. 

Joonas Rask
The younger brother of Tuukka, Jonas Rask recorded 1 assist in 2 career NHL games with the 2012/2013 Nashville Predators.

Alex Petrovic
Alex Petrovic made his NHL debut with the 2012/2013 Florida Panthers and has since played 13 games with the club.

Kenny Reardon
I threw a low bid at this card and surprisingly won. Since Kenny Reardon passed away in 2008 I'm very happy to add his signature to my collection.  He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966 and has his name on the Stanley Cup 6 times.  Since it's not leaving my collection I'll likely break it free from its case in the future.

Andre Benoit
Andre Benoit is one of very few of today's NHL regulars to never get a certified autograph.  The defenceman  played the entire 2013/2014 season with the Colorado Avalanche, scoring 28 points in 79 games. He recently signed a new contract with the Buffalo Sabres. 

Ray Schultz
Between 1997 and 2003 Ray Schultz appeared in 45 regular season and 2 playoff games with the New York Islanders. 

Keith Osborne
Selected 12th overall by the Blues in 1987, Keith Osborne played 5 NHL games with the 1989/90 St. Louis team. His second and last go in the big leagues was an 11 game stint with the 1992/93 Tampa Bay Lightning.

Robert Burakovsky
A long time pro hockey player in Europe, Robert Burakovsky came to North America for a single season.  He dressed in 23 games with the 1993/1994 Ottawa Senators, scoring 2 goals and 5 points.  His son, Andre, was a first round pick by the Washington Capitals in 2003.

Peter Eriksson
Swedish forward Peter Eriksson scored 3 goals and 6 points in 20 career NHL games with the 1989/1990 Edmonton Oilers. He wasn't with the team long enough to get his name on the Stanley Cup they claimed at season's end.

Rob Cimetta
Between 1988 and 1992 Rob Cimetta played 100+ games in the NHL.  He was a member of the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Gilles Thibaudeau
From 1986 to 1991 Gilles Thibaudeau played 125+ regular season and playoff games in the NHL. He played for the Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Frank Breault
Between 1990 and 1993 Frank Breault played 27 games with Wayne Gretzky's LA Kings. Breault scored 2 goals and 6 points in the NHL.

Mike Millar
Between 1986 and 1991 Mike Millar scored 18 goals and 36 points in 78 career NHL games.  He suited up for the Hartford Whalers, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Yves Courteau
Between 1984 and 1987 Yves Courteau played 22 NHL games, dressing for both the Calgary Flames and Hartford Whalers. 

Paul Skidmore
Goalie Paul Skidmore played 2 NHL games with the 1981/1982 St. Louis Blues.

Andre St. Laurent
From 1973 to 1984 Andre St. Laurent was an NHL regular.  He played over 700 regular season+playoff games in the league.  He was a member of the Islanders, Red Wings, Kings and Penguins.

Richard Grenier
Richard Grenier played 10 NHL games with the 1972/73 New York Islanders. He later spent some time in the WHA with the Quebec Nordiques. 

Per-Olev Brasar
From 1977 to 1982 Per-Olov Brasar was an NHL regular with the Minnesota North Stars and later the Vancouver Canucks.  The Swedish forward scored 206 points in 348 NHL games.

Morris Mott
Between 1972 and 1975 Morris Mott played 199 NHL games with the California Seals, scoring 18 goals and 50 points. He later played a couple games in the WHA with the Winnipeg Jets.

Dave Burrows
From 1971 to 1981 Dave Burrows played well over 700 games in the NHL, suiting up for the Penguins and Maple Leafs. He was a solid defenceman and was named to the 1974, 1976 and 1980 NHL All-Star teams.

Doug Barrie
From 1968 to 1972 Doug Barrie played 158 games in the NHL.  He was a member of the Penguins, Sabres and Kings. From 1972 to 1977 he played 350 games in the WHA with the Alberta/Edmonton Oilers.

Jim Harrison
Between 1968 and 1980 Jim Harrison played 300+ games in the NHL and 200+ games in the WHA. He was a Bruin, Maple Leaf, Blackhawk and Oiler.

Bob Murdoch
Bob Murdoch played a dozen seasons in the NHL and then coached in the league for another decade.  He won the Stanley Cup in 1971 and 1973 with the Canadians, represented the LA Kings at the 1974/75 NHL All-Star game and won the 1990 Jack Adams award with the Winnipeg Jets as NHL coach of the year.

Brian Carlin
Brian Carlin scored 1 goal in 5 career NHL games with the 1971/72 LA Kings.  He later spent some time in the WHA with the Alberta/Edmonton Oilers. 

Jake Rathwell
Jake Rathwell played 1 game in the NHL.  He saw time with the 1974/75 Boston Bruins.

Bob Solinger
From 1951 to 1955 Bob Solinger scored 10 goals and 21 points in 98 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He later played 1 game with the 1959/60 Detroit Red Wings. 

Frank Banham
A long time minor leaguer who still plays in Austria, Frank Banham played 32 games in the NHL between 1996 and 2003.  He dressed for both the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and Phoenix Coyotes, scoring 9 goals and 11 points. 

Vladimir Chebaturkin
From 1997 to 2002 Vladimir Chebaturkin played 65 regular season+playoff games in the NHL.  The Russian defenseman saw time with the Islanders, Blues and Blackhawks. He now coaches in the KHL.

Eric Charron
Between 1992 and 2000 Eric Charron dressed in 136 regular season+playoff games in the NHL.  He played for the Canadiens, Capitals, Lightning and Flames. 

Shayne Toporowski
Forward Shayne Toporowski dressed in 3 NHL games with the 1996/97 Toronto Maple Leafs. He recorded 7 penalty minutes but no points. 

Jamie Ram
Michigan Tech alumni Jamie Ram had a very short NHL career. He tended net for 27 minutes of a single game with the 1995/96 New York Rangers. He faced 9 shots and stopped them all.

Dan Smith
Between 1998 and 2006 defenseman Dan Smith played 22 games in the NHL. He dressed for the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers. 

Kevin MacDonald
Tough guy Kevin MacDonald fought his way into 1 NHL game with the 1993/94 Ottawa Senators. 

Sheldon Brookbank
Defenseman Sheldon Brookbank has played 350+ NHL games since making his debut with the 2006/07 Nashville Predators. He's most notable for getting his name on the Stanley Cup as a member of the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks. 

Garth Murray
Between 2003 and 2009 Garth Murray saw action in 121 regular season+playoff games in the NHL. He played with the Rangers, Canadiens, Panthers and Coyotes.

Jacques Demers
Jacques Demers started his coaching career in the WHA and moved to the NHL with the Quebec Nordiques.  He coached over 1000 games in the NHL and won the Stanley Cup in 1993 as bench boss of the Montreal Canadiens.  He's moved on to politics and since 2009 has been a member of the Canadian Senate. 

Matt Dalton
Matt Dalton's short NHL career lasted 1 NHL games as a backup goalie with the Boston Bruins in 2010.  See his full profile here, my other blog. 

Alain Beaule
Defenceman Alain Beaule spent 2 seasons in the WHA, playing for the Nordiques and Jets.

Curtis Hunt
Curtis Hunt spent the 2008/2009 NHL season as an assistant coach with the Ottawa Senators. He was a pro hockey player who was drafted by the Canucks in 1985.

Danny Flynn
Danny Flynn served as an NHL assistant coach with the New York Islanders during the 2006/2007 season.  He has also served as a scout with the LA Kings and recently coach/managed the QJMHL's Moncton Wildcats. 

Paul Conlin
Paul Conlin won a Memorial Cup as a junior player in 1961 and later represented Canada at the 1964 and 1968 winter Olympics. He won a bronze medal at the 1968 games in Grenoble.  He became a successful lawyer after retiring from the game.

Brad Pirie
Brad Pirie is notable for being a member of Team Canada's 1980 Olympic hockey team.  Pirie and Team Canada finished the tournament in 6th place.
